Work with us

Care work is hard, and it is skilled. We would rather tell you that honestly than sell you a job you leave in six weeks.

Why Rapid Care

Management that listens is not a perk. It is the job working properly.

Our managers are approachable and open-minded, and the views of our Home Care Assistants are taken seriously, because the carer in the house is usually the first to know when something has changed.

  • Full paid induction and the Care Certificate, whether or not you have worked in care before
  • Ongoing training in moving and handling, medication, dementia, safeguarding and first aid
  • Rounds built to be geographically sensible, so travel time is not eaten out of your visits
  • Routes into senior carer, coordinator and management roles
  • Full-time, part-time and bank hours, including school-hours patterns

Pay rates and mileage are set out at interview. If a care provider will not tell you what they pay before you apply, that tells you something. Ask us on the phone and we will tell you.

Domiciliary Care Support Worker / Home Care Assistant

    Medway & Swale, Kent

We are currently recruiting Domiciliary Care Support Workers/Home Care Assistants to join our growing team at Rapid Care. This is a rewarding opportunity for compassionate, reliable and caring individuals who want to make a genuine difference to people living in their own homes.

What happens when you apply

Four steps, and we tell you where you are at each one.

The compliance side of care recruitment is genuinely slow: an enhanced DBS check takes as long as it takes. What we can control is keeping you informed while it happens.

Apply and have a conversation

A short application, then a call. We will be straightforward about hours, areas, travel and pay.

Interview and checks

A successful face-to-face interview and satisfactory pre-employment checks ensuring no gap in education or employment history, including:

  • Satisfactory employment references
  • Verification of your right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS check appropriate to the role

Where required, Rapid Care Ltd will arrange the Enhanced DBS check as part of the recruitment process. We cannot normally accept an Enhanced DBS certificate issued through another employer unless the applicant is registered with the DBS Update Service and can provide the certificate being presented for verification.

Induction and shadowing

You will receive full induction training before starting in your role, followed by shadow shifts with an experienced member of the care team.

This gives you the opportunity to become familiar with our clients, care routines, expectations and working practices before carrying out visits independently. We want every new member of staff to feel confident, prepared and properly supported from the start.

Your first rounds

You will start with a settled group of clients, giving you the opportunity to build familiarity, confidence and strong working relationships from the beginning.

You will also have regular supervision and the support of an approachable Care Coordinator and management team who are available when you need advice, guidance or reassurance.

We believe carers should never feel that they are working alone. If you have a concern about a client, need clarification about a care plan, or simply need support during your working day, there will always be someone you can contact.

Wherever possible, we also aim to maintain continuity of care, so you can get to know the people you support properly and they can feel comfortable seeing familiar faces.

Eligibility

What you need before you start

  • Right to work in the UK – whether with or without restrictions. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, get in touch and we’ll be happy to discuss your circumstances with you.
  • DBS check – we don’t normally accept an Enhanced DBS certificate issued through another employer. However, if your certificate is registered with the DBS Update Service, and you can provide it for verification, then we may be able to use it.
  • References – you’ll need a minimum of two referees, and one of these must be your most recent employer.
  • Driving licence – for most community-based roles, a full driving licence and access to a car is preferred. If you don’t drive, please still get in touch, as this doesn’t automatically rule you out.
  • Training – a willingness to complete the Care Certificate (as a minimum), unless you already hold an equivalent Health & Social Care qualification.

Once you meet the criteria above, click Start an application and let’s get to know you.
